Lucas Grainger-Brown is the winner of The Writing Prize 2023 for his writing about the question: Why is ‘A Voice to Parliament’ important and how will it be of benefit to Australia?
Lucas is in his early thirties and holds a PhD in political science from The University of Melbourne. Lucas is a policy analyst at the Australian Government Department of Treasury.

Ashlen Campbell is the winner of The Writing Prize 2022 for her essay, “What is the role of publicly funded free media in Australia?”
Ashlen Campbell is 24 years old and has a degree in zoology from The University of Melbourne. Together with her love of science, she has a love for writing and regularly combines these two passions through science communication.
The Writing Prize is designed to encourage younger Australians to write about significant societal issues. It is part of www.writing.org.au, a philanthropic initiative about facts, opinions and ideas.
